"British or French?" enquired Captain Acton, letting his glass sink whilst he looked at his companions. "Before we sailed the news had got about that Villeneuve meant to[Pg 392] leave for the West Indies. It may be his ships returning." He pointed his glass again, and counted: "Eleven sail of the line and three frigates." "We hope to effect our end without bloodshed, my lord," said Captain Acton. Captain Weaver knew many who were engaged on the several wharves, and so indeed did Captain Acton. They asked two or three score of different persons the question, but the majority had not been down on the wharves at that time, and the few who were at work declared that they had not seen her. It seemed unachievable to Captain Weaver as well as to Captain Acton, that so beautiful[Pg 195] and well acknowledged a lady as Overlook Lucy should make her appearance on the wharf at a time of day when scarce more than labourers were about, without being either recognised or seen, and her presence borne witness to by tho

What Alan Rosendale remembers foremost from the night he was bashed unconscious 27 years ago, is what his attackers said to each other.
"There's one! Become him!"
Alan had been walking home from a homosexual bar on Oxford Highway in inner Sydney around 1am when up to six men brandishing pieces of wood jumped him.
"I was in St Vincent's [Hospital] for five days. Broken nose, broken teeth. I passed out at the scene," he told Hack.
Police interviewed him shortly afterwards, but after that - nothing.
"The police arrived that night at St Vincent's and apparently took a statement from me while I was on the stretcher, semi-conscious," he said.
I just reflection that was it. They didn't come back to me at St Vincent's, ever."
It wasn't until 2013 that Alan got to give a full declaration on his attack.
He's tried to push police to reopen the case, but he kept being told there isn't enough evidence.
'Crescendo of violence'
Alan was just one victim in a spate of homosexual bashings that swept the county in the mid to late 1980s. Rick Feneley, a journalist with Fairfax, has been researching these crimes for three year

You’ve described Portland Center Stage as “a second home.” Can you communicate about your affair with this theater?
When I started my career, I was looking for places that I would like to execute my work consistently. And this place, surprisingly, became one of them. The first time I came to JAW, I met Rose, we got along and she did The
