Dua Lipa says she's "surprised and horrified" at DaBaby's comments about people with HIV and same-sex attracted men.

The singer wrote on her Instagram story that she didn't "recognise this as the person I worked with" and stood "100% with the LGBTQ community".

"We need to approach together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV and Aids," she added.

Rapper DaBaby - a guest artist on Dua's hit, Levitating - has been criticised for comments he made at a US festival.

Performing at Rolling Loud festival in Miami, he invited every audience member to "put your cell phone bright up", apart from those who were HIV-positive or were gay men who had sex in machine parks.

He also made the false claim that HIV will "make you pass away in two or three weeks".

Lollapalooza drops DaBaby performance after homophobic comments

Lollapalooza cancelled a Chicago performance by the rapper DaBaby on Sunday because, the music festival said, it was “founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect and love”.

“With that in mind, DaBaby will no longer be performing at Grant Park tonight.”

The rapper came under fire for homophobic comments during a performance in Florida last week.

“If you didn’t demonstrate up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then set your cellphone lighter up,” he said, at Rolling Loud Miami.

“Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, set your cellphone lighter up!”

Artists including Elton John, Demi Lovato, Madonna and Dua Lipa, who has collaborated with DaBaby, led condemnation. John said the remarks would “fuel stigma and discrimination”.

“HIV has affected over 70 million people globally,” he said. “Men, women, children and the most vulnerable people in our communities.

“In America, a same-sex attracted Black man has a 50% lifetime chance of contracting HIV. Stigma and shame around HIV and homosexuality is a enormous driver of this vulnerability. We need

Rapper DaBaby responds after fans criticise 'homophobic' comments at Miami show

Rapper DaBaby has responded after he was criticised for making seemingly homophobic comments at a Miami gig.

Videos on social media show him telling the crowd: "If you didn't show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that'll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone pale up."

He also targeted male lover men in references to other sexual activities, asking those who did not take part in them to "put your cellphone light up".

DaBaby's words at the Rolling Loud Miami festival were condemned by social media users as homophobic, but the rapper, real name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, appeared to double-down in a lengthy Instagram response.

He said across 19 videos: "What I complete at a live production is for the audience at the live show.

"It'll never translate correctly to somebody looking at a little five, six-second clip from their goddamn crib on their phone. It just don't work appreciate that.

"Because, regardless of what y'all m************ are talking about and how the internet twisted up my m************ words, me and all my fans at the show, the homosexual ones and th

A Timeline of DaBaby’s Homophobic Comments Controversy

  • How It Began

Rolling Loud Miami 2021’s final diurnal on July 25 was packed with highly anticipated performances from Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, and many others, but it was DaBaby‘s set that immediately dominated headlines and for days after.
DaBaby, who took the Ciroc Stage right after Meg, surprised attendees by bringing out Tory Lanez. The year prior, the “Savage” singer had accused Lanez of shooting her in the foot. But the “Rockstar” rapper didn’t stop there, and what came next fueled criticism: In clips from the livestreamed production, DaBaby made homophobic and misogynistic comments.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you pass away in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” he told attendees. “Ladies, if your p—- smell like moisture, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d— in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
