When it comes to video games, I’m sure anyone that knows me also knows of my love for The Last of Us. While I could go on about other amazing video games that deserve adaptations, or the ones that are going to be getting them (like God of War), The Last of Usseries has always been my favorite for many years. It might be because of my love of zombies, or just badass female protagonists, but even besides that, I love it.
I’ve also learned to appreciate the series for a whole new reason, and that’s for it’s LGTBQ+ representation. As a young teenager, I never really noticed it until I realized I was bisexual and that there was a character like me as a protagonist in a video game that I truly held dear. Now, since the adaptation for the show is coming out, I just acquire to talk about the queer characters in The Last of Us as well as its other games, and just how important they really are to the gaming industry as a whole.

Fans of The Last of Us will already understand that the exhibition has made several key changes to the game it's based on. For example, Bill and Frank's romantic connection is merely implied in the game, whereas, it gets a full devastating episode in the show. Most recently, The Last of Us season 2 has completely changed how Abby is introduced to viewers.
The Last of Us season 2 also introduces fans to Ellie's brand fresh love interest Dina and they peck at a move in the first episode. This comes after we uncover out Ellie had a romantic association with a teen named Riley in a flashback episode in season 1. Here's what we learn about Ellie's sexuality in The Last of Us games and what Bella
After the revelation of Ellie's kiss in Left Behind, the downloadable expansion to The Last of Us, I decided two things. One, that I was sufficiently over being terrified of the game the first time to hand it another go, and two, that I was curious whether or not the game would undergo different knowing that Ellie was gay.
When I first reviewed The Last of Us one of the things that I most applauded the game for was the character of Bill. Bill was Joel's smuggling contact, a paranoid loner that lived in the overrun and extremely booby-trapped town of Lincoln. Joel and Ellie encounter up with Bill hoping to cash in some favors and get a car to head west in.
Bill is also queer, something that you don't realize until you approach across the body of his ex-lover Frank. Frank had grown tired of Bill's small-mindedness and set-in-his-ways attitude, and had attempted to steal the machine battery Bill was going to give to Joel. In the process he was bitten, infected, and hanged himself after disappearing a very rude record for Bill to find.
