In the January 2014 issue of Esquire U.K., 52-year-old Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney addresses accusations that he’s a closeted homosexual. It all started, he told the magazine, when he responded to a headline that read, “George Clooney is Gay-Gay-Gay.” His response? “I’m gay-gay, the third one’s pushing it.”
Fire was added to the speculation in 2011, when ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis told People that she and Clooney had a “father-daughter” relationship, saying that their relationship ended because of their “personal needs.” Hmmm …
In the Esquire interview, he said “[I’m] not going [to oppose it], because that’s even out insulting to the gay community.” The statement mirrored a similar one he gave to The Advocate last year:
“I think it’s funny, but the last thing you’ll ever observe me do is skip up and down, saying, ‘These are lies!'” he said. “That would be unfair and unkind to my good friends in the gay community. I’m not going to allow anyone make it appear like being gay is a bad thing. My private life is
George Clooney Totally Cool With Gay Rumors: "Who Does it Hurt?"
There's one thing you can number on when it comes to George Clooney: The diplomatic but forthright thespian will always speak his mind.
Case in point: incessant speculation about his sexuality that's never seemed to die down.
Sure, for years Clooney's been dogged by rumors he's gay, and while he's usually shrugged them off, he recently spoke with The Advocate to silence naysayers.
So what did he have to say?
"My private life is private, and I'm very happy in it," he told the mag. "Who does it hurt if someone thinks I'm gay? I'll be long gone and there will still be people who utter I was gay. I don't give a s--t."
He stresses, though, that it's important he remains sensitive to how he addresses the speculation.
"I think it's funny, but the last thing you'll ever watch me do is leap up and down, saying, 'These are lies!' That would be unfair and unkind to my nice friends in the same-sex attracted community. I'm not going to let anyone build it seem like creature gay is a poor thing."
Whatever I’ve thought of the last couple of movies that George Clooney’s made, his response to rumors that he’s gay is amazing — particularly given how Hollywood used to grasp that kind of gossip. He told The Advocate:
I consider it’s funny, but the last thing you’ll ever watch me do is jump up and down, saying, “These are lies!” That would be unfair and unkind to my good friends in the homosexual community. I’m not going to consent anyone make it seem like existence gay is a bad thing. My private life is private, and I’m very happy in it. Who does it hurt if someone thinks I’m gay? I’ll be long dead and there will still be people who say I was gay. I don’t give a shit.
That kind of pure confidence, or the ability to buss Billy Crystal in the Academy Awards’ opening skit without making it a joke that relies on a “gross! Two dudes kissing” reaction:

is welcome, and something we could use a lot more of. We think of Hollywood as this bastion of liberalism, but we’re not that far removed from a time when Rock Hudson was revealed to be gay only after he died of AID

Do gay people believe George Clooney is gay (and beards in 2016)

First, just to get it out there, I’m very pro-LGBTQ rights, and anyone should be free to be what they wish for sexually so elongated as it doesn’t hurt someone else.
Second, I care about who is queer only as a matter of curiosity; e.g., if people say someone is gay, I might wonder, Oh, is that really true?
So… it would never have crossed my mind that Clooney is gay. I hadn’t thought much about it. But my gay Pilates teacher not only thinks so but was telling the whole class his theory about how he is male lover and the studio has him unite beards and whatnot. He was quite insistent that it was so! I also asked my gay friend on FB with whom I talk just about every morning what he reflection, and he agreed that Clooney was gay, though he couldn’t cite an exact reason.
I also happened upon a theory that Jay Z is male lover and Bey is his beard. I was just looking up his status as a rapper (good or bad), and this theory was all over the place.
So perform are beards really still a thing in 2016?
