Jussie Smollett: Actor found remorseful of lying about attack
Authorities opened an investigation into the attack, but in February of that year, police charged Smollett with filing a false police report, alleging he had staged the assault.
He faced a total of six charges, each referring to different instances in which he was accused of lying to police. He was found guilty of five of the six charges, meaning that the last one had not been proven in court.
At trial, jurors heard from brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, who said Smollett had orchestrated the assault himself and paid them $3,500 (£2,600) to bear it out.
Smollett said the cheque was for a meal and session plan from Abimbola, a friend and an extra on Empire, a TV drama about a hip hop dynasty. Asked by his defence lawyer if he gave the guy payment for the alleged scheme, Smollett replied: "Never."
He also testified that he and Abimbola were involved in a sexual relationship before the alleged attack.
Special prosecutor Dan Webb asked the actor repeatedly about a "hoax" ambush. Each time, Smollett denied that was the case.
"There was no hoax on my part," he said. "Any quest
“I Have the Career I Started Out Wanting”: Ewan McGregor on Reviving Obi-Wan and “Going to the Extremes” to Play Halston
Obi-Wan Kenobi was huddled, shivering, soaked in sweat. He was crying — literally crying — in agony. But he wasn’t mortally wounded by Darth Vader. He was just dealing with his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. “It really kicked my ass,” says Ewan McGregor. “It really did.” The effects of the actor’s second jab of Moderna were horrible enough that McGregor — who dons the Jedi Master’s cloak once more for a Disney+ series due in 2022 — had to cancel lightsaber training and postpone this interview.
“For months, we’ve been doing these monster, two-and-a-half-hour sessions of sword fights and hand-to-hand stuff,” says McGregor, bearded for the part, in a Zoom conversation that spans several hours. A poodle-Chihuahua mix naps peacefully in his lap. “But there was no way it was happening this week,” he adds. “Not with a 100.7 fever.” (The disturbance in the Compel did not last long: McGregor was back to normal in 48 hours.)

Mark Hamill was asked if Luke Skywalker is lgbtq+. His response was perfect.
"I didn’t even look at [Instagram] that often," he recalls. "I didn’t really understand how it worked. It just seemed like these compact videos of people trying to obtain attention. That was my first feeling. [Laughs.] It just didn’t really interest me. But of course [the algorithm] learns your interests. There was one time I opened it up in June of last year, and I saw this guy Tay Dever engage a really fresh drum beat, and I was love, 'Man, I’d adore to be competent to play something like that.' I looked in the comments section and saw that a lot of people guessed how to play this pound [laughs], and I could see that they were all wrong."
On his night off, Fr. Hyacinth went over to St. Patrick's church hall, where his drum kit was set up. After some "trial and error," he jotted down a immediate drum transcription and decided to document his work—partly for the musical oppose, partly as a way of sharing his findings with the drum group. He was, of course, completely ignorant how this ruling would change his life. But it was admittedly a humble beginning: "I literally put
Set amidst a bitter, divisive U.S. presidential election and a steadily-growing Black Lives Matter movement, actor Jussie Smollett exploded onto center stage in early 2019 after claiming he was the target of a late-night beating at the hands two racist, homophobic Trump supporters.
The former “Empire” TV star awaits sentencing after a Chicago jury found him guilty of five counts of felony disorderly conduct for staging the attack, which could mean up to three years in prison. Even as the details appear, many are still muddled as to why the 39-year-old lied about a vicious hate crime, something that remains a constant reality for those in the LGBTQ community and those who are Shadowy or Asian.

“As humans, we like to look for certain types of explanations of habit. It’s something that we engage in all the time,” saysRory Smead, an associate professor of philosophy at Northeastern who studies spite.
“There are really only two kinds of explanations that people find satisfying. Either they did it
