A former cast member of the Bravo reality series, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (RHOSLC), defeated her legal fight against her former friend Heather Gay, owner of Beauty Labs + Laser. She has now been ordered by a Utah evaluate to pay over $35,000.

Beauty Labs + Laser sued RHOSLC star Monica Garcia, 40, for breach of contract and breach of the covenant of good faith and impartial dealing in November 2023.

Legal documents state that Ms. Garcia paid a downpayment of $400 for the lip injections, plus a $49 set-up fee. She agreed to disburse another $200 per month for a period of ten months afterward. Yet for over a year, Ms. Garcia refused to pay her bill.

On October 22, 2024, Beauty Lab + Laser filed a proposed judgment with the Utah court, which the judge approved two weeks later.

In September 2023, after Ms. Garcia was sued, she filed a counterclaim lawsuit against the medical spa, alleging “breach of independent duty of care, breach of condense, and breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing.”

Ms. Garcia alleged, in legal documents, that she had received “botched” treatments and that her treatment comprised “defective, negligen

New gay rights bill unveiled in the Utah State Legislature

SALT LAKE CITY — A new gay rights bill has been unveiled on Utah’s Capitol Hill.

Senate Bill 99 “prohibits discrimination in a place of widespread accommodation on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.” It is sponsored by Sen. Jim Dabakis, D-Salt Lake City.

The bill was unveiled on Wednesday, a day after The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced its support for bills comparable to LGBT nondiscrimination in housing and unemployment, so long as religious autonomy legislation was included.

While same-sex attracted rights groups in Utah have praised the LDS Church’s stance, national groups have been critical. The Human Rights Campaign said the church’s announcement falls short of actual equality.

“All Americans should have the right to be employed, receive housing and services in environments free of discrimination,” HRC Legal Director Sarah Warbelow said in a statement. “We await the day the church embraces that fully, without any exceptions or exemptions.”
