Romance Options and Controversy in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

In Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, players are fit to romance any romanceable NPC regardless of selected gender at the start of the game. These romance scenes are completely alike, except for the gender of the player character. Fans and critics have praised the series for its decision to include sexual fluidity, mirroring the norms of the time the game takes place in. Others possess critiqued it, saying certain representations are harmful stereotypes and that queer relationships should not always be portrayed as the alike as non-queer relationships or that the gay options skew towards WLW (women loving women) relationships.

Can you be gay in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? That’s the million dollar interrogate, isn’t it? While previous games haven’t exactly strayed away from including homosexual identities, they’ve often been quite the opposite of ‘show, don’t tell.’ For example, Jacob Frye was confirmed as bisexual after the events of the game by Ubisoft’s Tumblr account, rather than in the game itself.

So, what does that speak about Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Well, let’s start by saying that despite organism nominated in GLAAD for its LGBT+ representation, Odyssey isn’t as incredible as some may think. But before we get into that, let’s answer the question you’re here for.

Can you be gay in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Yes, yes you can. You can also be bisexual person, or even a woman loving woman. It gives you the options to play however you want. You may play your Alexios or Kassandra as asexual, or just someone who is sex-repulsed in general, but want to get to know someone more romantically. There are options – 14 of them to be exact, if you’re not counting DLC.

Fate of Atlantis Romance Question
Did I miss something or is the only romance option for women in FOA a male? This has been a trend in the dlcs and as much as I love the content, it's rather tiring for the people with womxn loving womxn characters. Presumably, Alexios can romance the character in FOA, so gay romances are allowed but lesbians are skipped yet again? We are essentially existence denied content because of our character's sexuality.

I love FOA but this has become a apparent trend in the dlcs.

If I'm wrong, please proper me.
