According to two sources familiar with the matter, the estranged couple’s daughter filed legal paperwork on her 18th birthday earlier this week to release “Pitt” from her last name.
The sources say she now wants to proceed by Shiloh Jolie. NBC News has not reviewed the petition.
A provider close to the matter said she hired and paid for her control lawyer.
Representatives for Pitt and Jolie did not respond to requests for comment.
This is not the first of the couple’s children to drop the Pitt surname. Zahara Marley Jolie did so, at least publicly, in 2022.
This news comes amid the famous couple’s carried on divorce battle. The couple, who distribute six children together, split in 2016 after Jolie accused Pitt of choking one of their children during a unpredictable trans-Atlantic flight in 2016.
